Five Lakeview Breakfast Spots with Plant-Based Options

I’ve lived in Lakeview, Chicago for a few years now, and I’ve found some incredible breakfast restaurants and coffee shops in the area. There’s so many delicious vegetarian options in the neighborhood, but here’s a few of my favorites.

Sam and George’s have 29 skillets to choose from on their menu, and The Spartan with sautéed tomatoes, onions, green peppers feta cheese on top of hash browns is my go to. If I want something sweet, I order their yummy chocolate chip pancakes as well. This family-run restaurant is one of my favorites in west Lakeview, and I always leave feeling full and happy.

The vegan crunch wrap from Heritage is one of my favorite coffee shop items in all of Chicago. It’s full of vegan eggs, seitan chorizo, cashew queso, black beans, and more. Their croissants are delicious as well, especially the pistachio one. Heritage is both a coffee and bike shop, so it’s a fun place to hang especially if you need to get your bike worked on.

I always love grabbing a quick breakfast at Doppio Coffee House. Their croissants are so fresh and the avocado toast is flavorful and filling.

Left Coast on Lincoln Ave. has various healthy options, and everything I’ve tried is delicious. It’s a great place to stop to get a quick matcha latte or one of their tasty smoothies. The chronic wrap with tofu is a green dream. This hefty wrap will leave you energized for the day. Their acai bowl is filled with fresh bananas, strawberries, and blueberries, and I loved eating it on their patio. This is definitely the spot if you’re looking for a healthier breakfast.

Brunch on the patio at Breakfast House is a great way to spend a summer morning. Their chef special french toast with a side of house potatoes is the perfect warm-day treat.

Their vegan chorizo hash is also amazing and includes potatoes, corn, peppers, onions, broccoli, spinach, plant-based chorizo, chipotle aioli, and guacamole. The buttermilk pancakes are delicious plus they have so many different flavors of mimosas! My favorite is their guava mimosa.

There’s endless breakfast restaurants in Lakeview, and these five staples will leave you ready for a day of exploring the city. Once you finish up breakfast in Lakeview make sure to go for a stroll along the lake or visit some of the thrift stores in Boystown.
