Paris in the winter is so magical—less crowds, warm flavors, and a festive energy. The thing about visiting France is I will always crave their fresh croissants that typically cost two euro. Here’s some bites and views from my trip in December:
Pastries from La Flûte De Meaux. This bakery was right across the street from my rental loft, and everything I tried was incredible.
It’s been my dream to visit Canada’s breathtaking Banff for years. So when I saw a cheap ticket to Calgary beginning of December, I decided to grab my warmest coat and snow pants to brave the cold to stand in awe of the towering mountains. What I didn’t expect was to be completely amazed by Alberta’s bakeries and vegan options. Having such amazing food the whole weekend was the icing on top of the cake to an amazing time in the snow-capped mountains. Here’s everything I did and ate over the weekend:
Sometimes you need to eat three different croissants after landing in Calgary, and And Some Bakery had so many options to choose from. I tried a matcha crookie, earl grey cruffin, and a plain croissant. Everything was delicious, but the cruffin was my favorite. I also tried their lavender foam matcha latte, which was yummy as well. My sweet tooth was definitely satisfied with this meal, and it costed $20.29 for everything.
After wandering around the Lower Mount Royal neighborhood and eating so many sweets for lunch, I desperately needed vegetables. So I grabbed dinner from a vegan restaurant called The Coup. I ordered the fresh Brussels, spicy yam nigiri, and gyoza. The Brussels sprouts were topped with maple shoyu gastrique, gochugaru, ginger, and scallions, and they tasted amazing. Everything I could ever want from some fried Brussels. The spicy yam nigiri included yam avocado, jalapeño, and chermoula aioli, and it was both creamy and spicy. The gyozas were filled with mixed vegetables and topped with scallions, kimchi honey, spicy soy, and sesame seeds. This nutritious and delicious dinner cost me $23.37. I told the waiter I was heading to Banff after dinner, and she told me to check out their sister restaurant located in town called Nourish.
Longman and Eagle is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. Everything they make is an explosion of unique flavors, and sitting on their patio in the summer is a vibe. Here’s a few dishes I’ve tried over the past years from their rotating menu:
Their potato gnocchi is the perfect autumn meal. This dish includes roasted pumpkin, brown sugar, amaretti cookie crumb, Umbrian truffle, parmigiano, balsamico, and sage. Truly so many delicious fall flavors for this enticing gnocchi.
I always love a visit to Joshua Tree, California. I mainly go to hike and explore the national park, but there are also so many incredible restaurants in the high desert as well. Here’s a few cozy spots with great vegetarian options:
I always crave a veggie burger and a beer after hiking, and the Joshua Tree Saloon always hits. Their veggie burger is great and, the mac n cheese is the perfect comfort food. I love visiting this spot as it has a few sustainable vegetarian options, outdoor seating, and a fun atmosphere.
I ate tooo good during my recent trip to New Orleans. When I visited when I was younger it could be difficult to find vegetarian food, but now there’s so many options everywhere! Here’s what I ate:
I’ve lived in Lakeview, Chicago for a few years now, and I’ve found some incredible breakfast restaurants and coffee shops in the area. There’s so many delicious vegetarian options in the neighborhood, but here’s a few of my favorites.
Sam and George’s have 29 skillets to choose from on their menu, and The Spartan with sautéed tomatoes, onions, green peppers feta cheese on top of hash browns is my go to. If I want something sweet, I order their yummy chocolate chip pancakes as well. This family-run restaurant is one of my favorites in west Lakeview, and I always leave feeling full and happy.
I grew up in St. Joseph, and I was lucky to be surrounded by so many delicious restaurants. I love visiting so I can indulge in my favorite spots from my childhood. Autumn is the best season to visit Michigan, and I just spent a weekend in the area soaking up the crisp autumn air and fall fresh flavors.
One of my favorite restaurants in Benton Harbor is the Mason Jar Cafe, and their pumpkin pancakes autumn special is the perfect filling breakfast on a chilly morning. I love how these pancakes taste with their savory breakfast potatoes. I don’t drink coffee, but I do love their chai latte.
