Late Nights in Lakeview: Where to Stop for Vegetarian Cravings

One of the best parts about living in a city is getting delicious food when the midnight hunger strikes, and Chicago has some great plant-based options to try. Here are a few of my favorites after a night out in Lakeview.

You can’t beat a late night Golden Apple trip, and y’all know I love a classic diner that always serves breakfast. I tend to order their chocolate hip waffles or pancakes, and the hash browns were the perfect savory side. There’s not many plant-based lunch or dinner options, so I usually go here when I’m craving breakfast food. So thankful for this 24-hour diner in Lakeview.

The Mac from Cheesie’s Pub and Grill is one of my favorite late-night greasy indulgences. This filling, macaroni and cheese stuffed sandwich is best eaten right before a long night’s sleep. Cheesie’s is open until 2am on weeknights and 3am on the weekend.

I’m not the biggest fan of deep dish pizza, but when I am craving it, I order Chicago’s Pizza. Their deep dish is so yummy, and I love their crust. They also have good appetizers as well, like the fried cauliflower. They also serve pizza by the slice, which is my most ordered. As someone who favor plain cheese pizza, I like to get a thin crust cheese slice and a deep dish cheese slice. This spot is open until 2am on weeknights and 3am on the weekend.

My favorite vegetarian burrito on the north side of Chicago is from El Burrito Mexicano. It’s filled with everything I could ever want – beans, rice, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and I always have to add avocado. Anytime I’m in Wrigleyville I have to get one. If you’re ever in this part of town make sure to stop by for some delicious food! It’s right next to the Addison red line stop, so it’s the perfect place to go after a Cubs game. This Mexican join is open until 2am on weekdays and 4:30am on the weekend.
